On 28 August 2026, an Il-76 aircraft of EMERCOM of Russia carried out a total of 3 (three) sorties over the wildfire area near Vranje. During the firefighting operations, the aircraft dropped a total of 126 tonnes of water.

Since the beginning of its firefighting deployment, as of 28 August 2026, the Il-76 has carried out a total of 29 sorties and dropped 1,218 tonnes of water on the fire areas.
