Training was held at the RSHC for members of the Serbian Fire Service from Belgrade and Novi Sad on the topic: “Using vehicles with the COBRA system”.
The “Cobra” system is a special fire extinguishing system. The specifics of the system are reflected in the unique ability to drill and inject water under high pressure through the drilled space such as: steel materials, reinforced concrete, and all other materials used in construction. The advantage of this system compared to the standard one is increased safety for firefighters, greater efficiency during extinguishing, and reduced indirect damage from extinguishing agents.
Today, over 900 such systems are used in more than 30 countries around the world – on various types of firefighting vehicles.
Working principle: water is mixed with abrasive particles and directed under high pressure (300 bar) towards the material behind which the combustion process takes place. The mixture of water and abrasive under high pressure is directed in a pointwise manner, where it penetrates the material in a very short period of time (10-15 seconds), and in the space behind the pierced material, it performs extinguishing with a cooling effect. After the material is pierced, the abrasive is turned off, and only high-pressure water passes through the pierced space.
Advantages of the Kobra system:
Extinguishing from a safe distance, reduces the risk to firefighters.
Quick installation (1-2 minutes) and effective action in the early stages of a fire.
Consumes little water (60 l/min), most of it evaporates immediately.
Enables access to closed spaces (walls, roofs, ventilation, attics).
One or two operators are enough.
Lightweight, mobile and easy to use; can also be installed on small vehicles.
Hose range up to 300 meters.
Place of application: residential complexes, industrial facilities, oil platforms, mines, as well as road, air, rail, river and sea transport.
In December last year, the Russian-Serbian humanitarian center conveyed 2 vehicles equipped with the “Cobra” fire extinguishing system to the Emergency Management Sector of Ministry of Interior of Serbia for permanent use.
