Competition “Vertical Challenge” in Saint Petersburg

On November 4, on National Unity Day, Saint Petersburg hosted the International Competition of Firefighters and Rescuers “Vertical Challenge” in a high-speed ascent in a high-rise building, dedicated to the memory of Evgeniy Zinichev.

The competition was attended by 490 firefighters, rescuers, and volunteers from Russia. Colleagues from the Republic of Belarus joined them, and for the first time, firefighters-rescuers from Serbia. The country was represented by a team of 4 firefighters-rescuers: 2 from the Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia and 2 firefighters from the company “NIS – Oil Industry of Serbia”. All competitors completed the task: they overcame 39 floors, 936 steps, and 145 meters of the Leader Tower vertical ascent. Some are in full working suits and breathing apparatuses for a while, others are without masks for personal results.
