Studenica Monastery is a world-famous heritage of the Serbian people, which is included in the book of cultural treasures of mankind by UNESCO. Now is the time for this generation of Serbian citizens to contribute to the protection of this cultural wealth from natural fires. The Serbian government pays constant attention to this issue – the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Emergency Branch of the Serbian Interior Ministry is aware of all the problems of the monastery, and local residents have already organized a volunteer fire brigade.
The Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center received a letter from the head of the volunteers of Studenica, supported by the abbot of the monastery, with a request to provide specialized material assistance. The Emergency Branch of the Serbian Interior Ministry was informed and consultations were held with the fire and rescue department of Kralevo.
Taking into account the importance of the issue for the whole country and taking into account the newly adopted law of the Republic of Serbia on voluntary firefighting ("Service Glaswegist" No. 87/2018), the leadership of the RSGC responded to this call. On 14 December, a working group of the Centre was sent to Studenica, which held talks in Kralevo, studied the needs of the local volunteer fire brigade of the monastery and organized a volunteer alert system, and inspected areas most affected by natural fires. Based on the analysis of these data, the Centre's specialists are preparing proposals for assistance to students in Studenica and training to improve the skills of volunteer team members while coordinating with local professional structures.
The staff of the RSGC make a significant contribution to strengthening the fraternal ties of the peoples of Russia and Serbia, constantly working together with their colleagues – professional firefighters of the Emergency Branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia to strengthen and develop the national system of emergency management.
