Visit to Khanty-Mansiysk

From May 8 to 12, 2024, a delegation of volunteer firefighters from Serbia, with the support of the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center, visited the city of Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia) to exchange experiences in outdoor firefighting and elimination of the emergency consequences.

The delegation comprised representatives of the Volunteer Firefight Department from Nis, Kovin, and Sombor, representatives of the Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, and the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center.

They visited the fire rescue unit no.132 in Khanty-Mansiysk, where they got acquainted with the firefighting equipment of the Russian firefighters, tested their capabilities in the heat-smoke chamber, and got acquainted with the museum exhibition. Serbian colleagues also presented a fire helmet from Yugoslavian times.

The Humanitarian Voluntary Corps holds learning and training courses for extinguishing forest fires, eliminating the consequences of emergencies, and providing first aid in the vicinity of Khanty-Mansiysk, as well as going to the location and setting up a field camp.

During two days, volunteer firefighters from Serbia and their colleagues from Russia acquired theoretical knowledge and consolidated it in practice. Representatives of the administration of the Khanty-Mansiysk District—Yugra, the Humanitarian Volunteer Corps, the Main Administration of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for Khanty-Mansiysk District, the Yugra Air Force, volunteer firefighters and rescuers from the district, Tyumen Oblast, and Yekaterinburg were in the field camp and held educational training activities.

Based on the training results, volunteer firefighters from Serbia received completed training certificates under the “Volunteer Firefighter” program.

Also, during the visit to Khanty-Mansiysk, the Serbian delegation participated in festive events dedicated to celebrating Victory Day.
